When is your best listening time?

Thread Starter

Weekend mornings, no hurry, at the computer system with some Coffee Fool coffee handy.

Today, HRT MS Pro Music Streamer > RSA SR-71B > Checking out the Denon AH-D5000 phones to see if they can be the new headphone around the house.

No one bugging me, no projects lined up for the day, no where I need to be today.

Prime listening time.

How about you guys?

Anytime after a long day. I just sit down and listen to the music. My friend thought I was weird because I sat and listened for nearly two hours without moving.

Yet another shameless plug by Coffee Fool based out of Minneapolis..  =]  (kidding)

It's weeknights for me, post-work, and maybe a session on the weekend too.

The best hifi-related purchase I have made to year to date are two floorstanders, that's two dimming  floorstanding lamps from IKEA -- makes almost any time listening time.

Late at night for me, when everything has been done for the day.
Lights dimmed to a minimum, with a cold or warm drink.

And my setup sounds better late at night too, cleaner power, less outside noise, better state or mind, a combination thereof, whatever it is, it works.

Only danger is the "one more song"  syndrome, which can make things get very late. ;)

My best listening time is about 5 am.  I am a night owl, up all night, sleep till noon.  Insomniac.

Right now listening to the LOST AND FOUND  album by Dzihan and Kamien (FLAC), using Audio-GD  FUN as a DAC off of SPDIF from my music server, Little Dot MK III as line stage, AMC CVT 2030 MOSFET-EL34 "speaker" amp to drive HiFiMan HE-6's.  (Great combination, I really like the 'tube sound' this provides, yet with tons of power and control.  And the mids from an EL-34 simply cannot be beat!)

The HE-6's sound really great with this amp.  LCD-2's are not bad with it either, but with the LCD-2's I like to use my Audio-GD NFB-10ES driving the LCD-2's balanced.  The ESS DAC really compliments the LCD-2's.

Night time. Due to my studies, there's always hordes of pages to be read, and I can't really enjoy the music to it's fullest till I'm done with that.

Nothing like the satisfaction fo being done with the choirs of the day and having a few hours to do whatever I feel like. That's when I really enjoy the music.

Most of my listening time is also done at night. And very often I am victim to the "one more song" syndrome which happens up to several times each night.

Whenever I'm working, which is often late at night. I like to be out during the day, most people sleep at night so I usually work until right before sunrise.

After work, in the morning while getting ready, before bed, quite often really..

Whenever doing work, always listen to music as I'm getting ready, and before sleep.
