Windows Headphone Properties -- Enhancements?

Thread Starter

Hello guys, I had a quick question about some options in windows for changing headphone properties. When clicking on headphone properties when I have my grado's plugged in, there's a tab called Enhancements, which include 3 particular presets: Bass boosts, headphone virtualization and loudness equalization.

Sorry if this is a naive question, but what exactly do these enhancements do? Do they just change up the headphone EQ? I just got my Grados, but turning on "headphone virtualization" seemed to really balance things up and remove some of the excessive brightness. I'm just wondering what exactly is happening when I activate these enhancements.

Also, in the advanced tab there's a little thing called "Default Format", allowing me to choose a sample rate and bit depth. What exactly does that mean?

Thanks for helping a newb out!
