I'm hoping to not spend too much, but I am willing to spend up to ... maybe 350-400ish. I'm also hoping to have something to really show what my friends with Beats that they got ripped off. I want something that isn't too big so I can take it with me when I walk around. Thanks in advance.

Some of the better portables:

Sennheiser HD25-1 II

Denon AH D1100 (bass heavy)

BeyerDynamic DT1350

V Moda Crossfade M80

Do a bit of reading on these, and I'm sure more people will chime in with other suggestions.

Thanks, much appreciated. I'm new to head-fi, so I'm still trying to get my bearings and what not.

Bump, I'd like a few more recommendations.

Isn't the ESW10 discontinued?

+1

I love my V-80s.

Edit: Also check out the Denon D2000s. Best cans you can buy <$300 IMO, they just aren't as portable.

Hello!

If you haven't already, check out these two particular threads:

I'm new to head-fi too, but these two threads had some really good information regarding portables. In particular, the aforementioned M80's and HD-25-1 ii's (as well as others) are in the second thread, while a breadth of portables are available in |joker|'s AWESOME shootout. For what you listen to, the consensus seems to be that the HD 25-1 ii's are excellent rock/metal headphones.

Good luck!
