Questions about the FiiO E17

Hello everybody, I'am considering getting the E17 to use as a portable DAC/Amp for my laptop and Android phone. However, I have never owned an amp or DAC before.

 

I use the Etymotics HF5 and my speakers for my laptop are the active Audioengine A2's.

 

I know that the speakers are active, but I assume that I can still use the E17 with it as a DAC. I'm not entirely sure about this though, will I have any problems with such a set-up?

 

I use my Android phone as my portable music player so the E17 can be used as an amp I guess. (HF5 as my IEM)

 

So can such set-ups work? Will I spoil any of my products?

Just make sure to order a Fiio L7 to use with the E17 so you have a fixed line out to feed your active speakers.

I was thinking about the variable output to control the volume of my M Audio active monitors by the E17, if it has the viariable ouput. With the fix line out, I will need to use the volume control on my active speakers.

You can select fixed or variable output when using the L7.
