HTF600s broke- need new headphones

Ok, my HTF600s have broken. The left side has gone quiet, and I can't fix it anymore by blowing on it. So I'm looking for headphones for gaming (single player mainly, though would like good positional audio) and that would work good with Dolby Headphone. Budget's about $50-250.

I have an Asus Xonar DG

Here are some that I'm thinking about-

DT990 32 ohm

DT990 250 ohm (remember reading it is easier to drive than 32 ohm edition...?)

FA-011

FA-003

DR150 (Some people say it works good with DH)

Ultrasone pro 900

Ultrasone pro 2900

NS1000 (Afraid that I'm going to get a bad batch, also, expensive, because I live in the U.S.)

...And any other suggestions you guys may have.

Thanks.

Yeah, I've read that thread. It's  that I have an Asus Xonar DG, which isn't that powerful, and I want to see some recommendations for some other possible choices. Particularly interested in FA-003.

Thanks though.

I've heard they're tinny with DH. Is that true?

Denon D2000. You're coming from the HTF-600. Its a good upgrade. Also the soundstage on these is really good and works phenomenally with DH

I am currently deciding between

FA-003

FA-011

DENON AH-D2000

Leaning towards the D2000, though the FA-003 does look comfy. smily_headphones1.gif

I'm not sure I would know tinny if it hit me in the face, but I do not have a problem with the way the HD-558's sound.

It may not have the warmest sound, but it's the best sounding open headphones I use.

(my DT990 Pro 250-Ohm headphones arrived an hour ago, so I'll be comparing for awhile).

I use the Essence STX with LME49860NA op-amps and Yamaha RX-V671 receiver.

A poor quality (cheap) amplifier might show more "imperfections" in the HD-558 sound.

Thanks. I'll keep those in mind. Would the Xonar DG be powerful enough to run the HD-558?

The Senn HD-558 is 50-Ohms.

The Xonar DG headphone amplifier has three gain settings, <32 Ohm, 32~64 Ohm, 64 Ohm <.

So the HD-558 would use the middle setting.

I removed the black rubber tape from inside the cups of my HD-558s, makes them more open.

But keep the black rubber tape (both pieces), if you need to put them back for any warranty stuff.

The Xonar DG can drive the Denon D2000 fine. My iPod can even do it
