Really need help choosing headphones for under $100!

Hey guys. I don't really know much about headphones as such, so I will just say what I am kind of looking for and hopefully you guys can help.

- I have an iPad 2 and I would like to listen to music during classes.

- I don't want to hear any background noise, or the least as possible.

- They must be full over the ear design and very comfortable.

- I want all round clarity crispness rather than defening bass hahaha.

- I don't want others to hear what I am listening too

- I only have $100 to spend :(

A mate of mine let me use his Bose AE2s and I liked them quite a bit. I did read a few reviews on them though, and people think that they are too over priced.

If you guys could help that would be awesome.

Cheers.

Heya,

These.

Very best,

If you can stretch your budget a little, you can get the KRK KNS-8400s for around $120 online.  Good isolation from outside sounds, and not too much leakage to the outside.  Over-the-ear, memory foam cushions, very accurate and balanced, low impedance.

Would the Fostex T50 be a good choice. I've been quit tempted to actually pick up a pair on the cheaps and mod away to my hearts content.

Maybe if you mod them. A lot. Otherwise, you're going to notice that they're all mids with a really weird damp treble and very little bass presence. Heavily modded they have achieved ridiculous status. But stock, they are one of the worst headphones I've ever owned honestly. But that's just my opinion.

Very best,

What you are describing sounds like the Sony MDR-V6 or Sony MDR-7506. These are very similar(some would say they are the same).

Amazon has the 7506 for $105.

The Shure SRH440 is another option.

Another option is the Sennheiser HD280 pro. The HD280 pro isolates better than the V6, however it is larger and less comfortable. The H280 pro  doesn't fold though, so it may be a bit bulky to carry around.

These are all studio monitor headphones, neutral sounding headphones used in recording studios, radio stations, and tv and movie production.

I also forgot to add that to the list too. They kind of have to be portable.

I do like the look of the Sony MDR-7506. The only thing i can see wrong with them is apparently the cord is not detachable. There is also cases of the ear cups ripping, but I suppose that is the user's fault.

I do love the look of the Brainwavz HM5's. Although they don't look very portable, as in the cannot be folded.

Any other suggestions guys?

Cheers.

JVC HA-M750?

Shure SRH750DJ's. I picked mine up on eBay from an authorized dealer brand new for $110.

The Shure SR440 has a replaceable cord, and a replacement cord is only around $15. Some say it is a bit bass deficient though.

Very few headphones under $100 have a replaceable cord, and typically replacement cords are proprietary and $30+.

My Sony V6 is 23 years old and still works fine. I did need to replace the earpads though.

The V Moda Crossfade is around $100, however it is bassy and large. It has a replaceable cord and comes with 2 cords.

The Vmoda M80 and Sennheiser HD25-1 mk2 are smaller and have replaceable cords, however they are around $185.

They are also quite bassy though.
