Suggestions for a $200 budget

I've searched here, read reviews, and still couldn't make up my mind. So I decided to by the V-Moda M-80s. I really like them, but unfortunately, they were not comfortable for my big head. So I'm going to return them to Amazon and start looking for a different set.

  • I usually listen to Korean ballads/R&B/hiphop/pop, rock, r&b, jazz, Japanese anime music, and some electronica.
  • I prefer over the ear, but I don't mind if it's on ear also as long as it's comfortable on my head.
  • To give an example, the JVC RX700 and Audio Technica ATH-SJ5 fit just fine on my head. If the M-80s were slight longer, then it would have been fine also.
  • My budget is $200.
  • Somewhat portable, if possible.

I've read about Beyers being really comfortable, but not sure about the sound. Yes, I know sound is personal preference. If there is anything with good highs, mids, and medium bass (not overpowering, I liked the M80s bass), then it'll be fine for me. I have the SJ5 for taking it on the road and RX700 if I want bass.

I even thought of getting the LP2 headphones, but read it doesn't have that great of highs and mids, and I don't feel like waiting for the M100s unless there is some type of time frame for those.

I'll take suggestions.

EDIT: I'm currently not using an amp, but do plan to get a portable one if the future like the Fiio E17.

Thanks.

Since it's been over 12 hrs. Gonna bump this. Looking for suggestions so I can buy 'em from Amazon and receive tomorrow to enjoy it over the weekend. That's the plan anyways. Thanks.

Wish I could edit the title, but seems like I can't.

Sennheiser HD25-1 II will work.

I have a big head too, but the clamping force is ok after it loosens up.

Vmoda m80s can be tweaked and adjusted. Have you tried that?

Yeah, I tried adjusting the band, bending this and that, but it just wasn't comfortable enough for me. Maybe there was something else, but it's too late now since I shipped it back to Amazon.

When I wear it, the headphones tend to want to stay wide and not fully around my head. Not sure if I'm describing this correctly.

I'll look at the Sennheiser HD25-1 II. Still taking suggestions.

I think the HD25 is on par with the vmoda. So, I hope that works out. In fact before the M80, the HD25 was the best in that class.

I don't think on ear models would ever match the comfort of over the ear phones.

You sacrifice comfort for portability and more importantly isolation.

Unless it's exactly what you want I'd say look at over the ear models.

If you can squeeze in a D2000, I imagine it might be better.

The HD25-1 is admittedly uncomfortable. It's noisy, too.

I had the RX700 once and I don't hesitate to voice my dislike of it.

Some commonly recommended headphones in that price range include the HFI-580, ATH M50, and Grado SR125i.
