I have never heard of burn in making headphones worse only better

actually i did read one post where a guy loved the headphones right out of the box, but then after burn in they didnt sound as good. I think the highs became too tame...

Wilson Watt/puppy 7s were like that. They got too analytical after burn in.

 

Generally burn in helps as it will lower the resonance point of the driver for more bass extension and frees up a bit for better resonsiveness in general. Why it's so much more noticeable on dynamic drivers.

It's like asking why breaking in shoes only improves comfort...  There can be mulitple reasons for this.  However, there are instances of headphones getting worse (in a given area).  There are also the weird instances of headphones getting worse then better, then worse, then worse, then better.  This was shown in the first 200 hours of burn in with the Hephaes.  Also, in both the RE0 and ADDIEMs, I also noted that the bass impact decreased largely (which becomes a problem on both of these phones.
