Different versions of Beyerdynamic DT-770 PRO?

Hi I recently purchased the dt770 pros but when I looked at a review on Youtube, I noticed his looked slightly different.

As you can see, the one on the left has beyerdynamic spelled out while the one on the right has dt770 pro instead.

 

I was wondering if there is any difference between the two or which one is the newer model.

The right one is newer; I have one (250 Ohm) from 2011, and it looks the same, except the strain relief on the cord is different. The left one is an old version. I do not know how much, if at all the sound was changed over time, though, other than introducing (and now discontinuing) the somewhat different sounding 2005 or "premium" editions. The "pro" versions are said to be based on the old pre-2005 version, which I think is shown on your left picture, but may or may not sound still the same.

Thank you! After searching a bit more, it seems the one on the left is the 2005 version. Although I am a little disappointed I purchased the outdated model, I doubt I would be able to hear the difference between the two.

I do not think you can buy the version on the left picture, unless you get a used one. If you mean you have the "edition 2005", which has grey ear cups instead of black, that is not outdated, in fact it was the updated model. But the drivers are the same in the 250 Ohm version of both.
