Connecting Headphones to HDTV

Hi there -

I recently purchased a pair of Sennheiser 558 headphones for use with my television (LG 50PK550 plasma) and PS3 (games and movies).  I kind of assumed that all TVs had a headphone jack but mine apparently has no analog audio out at all.  All there is is an optical digital out.

Therefore I'm trying to figure out what exatly I need to use my headphones with my TV and I've spent hours now with no results.  As far as I can tell, I need a digital audio converter that supports Dolby and some kind of headphone amplifier with volume control.  Plus the right kinds of connecters and cables.

Is there any single device that does all of this that anyone can point me to?  Or separate devices that someone can point me to?  And preferably that doesn't cost a small fortune?

Thanks a bunch for your help.

Cheap way would be something like the Fiio D3? Then use a RCA-to-3.5mm male to hook up to cans hehe

Yeah, as I mentioned though my TV doesn't have any analog out, so I've got to do some kind of conversion from digital optical to analog, and it's probably got to be able to decode Dolby signals since I'll be watching movies and such.  PLUS I will need something with volume control.  So I don't think this solution will work.

What trog linked to takes the digital ouput and converts it to analog (digital analog converter DAC). From there you would have stereo RCA outs to connect to a headphone amp or preamp (something to give you volume control). I don't see any reason you need to be able to decode Dolby.

A simplified version of my setup would be that I take the optical output from my tv to my musical fidelity DAC. The analog outs from that feed my M3 headphone amp which I use with my hd650's
