PX100-II Review | Appreciation Thread - Page 30

I just bought another pair of PX100 (original version) on ebay -- used, in new condition.  That makes 3 pairs of the originals for me.

The first version is so more refined that the current one.

Are you talking about the results of my AB test?

^Yes mate.I also agree that the build quality of the 100s is poor.I love the phones but  they become defective and only have sound in 1 ear.

I usually just take them back to pc world and get a new pair for nothing.

My PX100II's have never failed me, whereas others have. I love them.

It's great that you've used the PX100 for 10 years without it ever breaking, but it says nothing whatsoever about its build quality. It's possible for some to use the flimsiest headphone for a long time. The truth is PX100 ii is obviously not built to last. The cable design, the unprotected wire entry at both ends, is a fatal flaw. The nagging and worrisome thought that I constantly have to be careful not to accidentally pull on it ruins it for me.

True.   On the other hand, it is possible for some to abuse the sturdiest of headphones...and then post on some forum that those models are flimsy.

Sure, the PX100 is not a Sennheirser HD25 (which is an indestructible can).

+1 on that, over 2 years and counting.

It's too bad the new ii versions of 100/200 don't come with the same hard plastic case the originals came with... those used to be so handy.

Also sucks that the cable is not replaceable (since it is almost always is the first failing point of these), but I'm not sure if they would be able to achieve that without making the unit bigger...
