High end IEM'S vs high end portable headphones

Thread Starter

I'm still relatively new to to the headfi scene. I've Always used Iem's but recently I've been checking out some of the portable headphones like the beyerdynamic 1350 AT esw9 etc.. How do they compare to iem's sound wise? Does a high end portable headphone  sound significantly better than a high end iem? Right now I have some w4rs and phonak audeo 232 but  those beyerdynamic 1350's are just so sexy I just want them lol but what should I expect from them coming from iem's?

"Does a high end portable headphone  sound significantly better than a high end iem?" No.
"what should I expect from them coming from iem's?" Depends on which IEMs you had

Edit: Sorry, didn't read post properly. High end portables should be much better than what you currently own. Actually, I don't even know, I have no idea how the Phonak Audeo 232 compares.

It depends really. To me, High end IEMs have way better isolation and details while Portables have better soundstage. :)

I just got new flanges for my 530s and its making me rethink all the IEM bashing I've been doing recently

Bass is incredibly deep, and flanges add a decent bit more detail+ soundstage
