New headphones for portable use? Hip Hop. 120>

Hey guys im in the market for new headphones> I will primarily using these with my iphone on the bus and the car. I would like to cancel out everything else. One main thing i really want is them to blow the beats away. I hate the kids in my school that walk around and tell me the beats are the best headphones. I need the headphones that have a lot of bass but also have good sound quality. Also please consider the fact that i only listen to hip-hop. I would also want headphones that are no larger than the beats studio. Ive previously had the audio technica ath-m50,shure srh-750dj, and sony xb500. I loved the m-50s, but they are not meant for portable use. Id dint like the look of the shures or the xb500s but they were still good cans. Closed headphones preffered.

Also price range is under 120. Maybe 150 if you can convince me.

I am seriously considering the Pioneer hdj-500k and the audio technica ath-ws55 or ws70. Does anybody have an experience with these phones?

Pioneer HDJ500 is a very nice set of cans, yes, but they don't fold. Mine are fine despite that, tossed into a cramped backpack nearly everyday. Still in one piece, and the earcup rotating piece hasn't sprung loose. Now for the sound, they're relatively balanced despite what the FR charts might imply. The treble veil isn't quite as bad as it appears; plenty of sparkle(for a fun sound sig) and a nice, pronounced mid-bass. There's some sub bass roll-off, but you might be able to remedy that if you simply seal the two tiny vents on each side that are really well hidden. Beats fans will still argue against it, simply over price but frankly, it does put them to shame in terms of SQ. The white ones will definitely "grab" attention if you like that.

Thanks I dont care how the look as long as they dont look ridiculous. Im hearing some bad things about the WS70 but ive been hearing good things about WS55. So ive narrowed my choices between those 2 headphones. the WS55 and the Pioneer HDJ500. If anybody else has other headphones in mind or an opinion on WS55 vs HDJ500 it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm curious about this too. I've ordered the WS55i's but am curious how they stack up with the Pioneers or any comparable headphones in commutes with an iPhone for rap and hip hop.

I ordered them from accessoryjack.

I thought the site was sketchy at first but after looking into it and reading some feedback from here and whirlpool.net, they seem legit. I won't have anything to compare them to so i hope they pull through.

Wait for a sale on the vmoda M80s or phiaton MS 400? or just buy them? they sound damn good with hip hop and they look slick, and very portable.

Unless either of those go on sale for under 100, which i dont think they will, i wont be getting those anytime soon. Also i dont wanna spend that much on phones that have high chance of breaking due them being in my backpack when im not using it.
