AKG earpads are getting dirty :/

Have any of you guys out there tried cleaning your K401 pads? Everyone under the sun has worn my cans, and I'm really dying to clean them. I'm not sure if it's safe or not to get the whole pad wet, as the circular part that snaps onto the phones looks like theres a slight chance it may not like it. Washing them with water without getting that part wet at all would be nearly impossible...

Anyone?

Just throw the entire thing into the washer and dryer...they are more comfy that way anyways. They don't really complain about the washer and deal with it much easier than the pads of other headphones.

Don't blame me if anything goes wrong like a butterknife falls into the washer or anything.

I am assuming your washing and drying skill is up to competent levels...such as your white shirts only have a slight tint of pink, instead of being dark red.

HEH, imagine my pads coming out purple!

Actually, I'm too big of a wussy to put them in the washer and dryer. I'm assuming if it's safe to do that, it's safe to carefully wash them by hand.

I'm going to wash at least one pair of pads in the washer tonight, and I'll see how they turn out. might do 'em some good...

AKG501 pads are like the cheapest...I remember being quoted like 11$ shipped.

I have two sets because I have two sets of headphones .

anyhoo, washing the pads works! I only washed them, I didn't dry; but they turned out great. much softer than my other pair, and these were newer and therefore less comfortable than the others. I'll be washing the second pair ASAP!
