Review: Hifiman HE-6/EF-6: An Elite Headphone System, Under One Roof - Page 10

Has anyone who ordered the EF6 in the last month received their unit?  I have had an amp on order for some time now and all customer service will tell me is that it hasn't shipped yet.  I understand that New Year puts them behind, but I don't really know how much more of a delay to expect.  If it is going to be much longer then I need to start looking into a cheaper stop-gap amp to fill the void because I don't really have anything else capable of really driving orthos.

I ordered one too, and Mrs. T informed me that it would take about two weeks before the amps started shipping from China. That was maybe 5 days ago.

Thanks for the heads up.  It makes it easier when you have some kind of idea about shipping.

I got the same answer from Mrs T - that despite the stated goal to ship the EF-6's in late January they would now not ship until March.

There might not be a lot of impressions on the combo, but what this thread lacks in quantity it makes up for it in quality.

I listen mostly to epic orchestral music [eg, action adventure trailer music].  Would the HE-6/EF-6 be really good for this?
Thanks!
Peter

I was listening to The Dark Knight soundtrack with this last night, and it really sounded great.  Is that what you mean?

Out of curiosity, how many steps does the attenuator have?

Without running down to the basement to check I'd say about 24 steps.

Most definitely, I listen to a lot of soundtracks, and the system certainly excels with them.  The fast, punchy, yet very deep bass, combined with the open, natural sound is an ideal pairing for this type of orchestral music which is both complex and thunderous.

Thanks for your input!  I'm thinking either the Hifiman HE-6 or the HE-500.  Depending on how much I wanna spend.
