I'm seeing a lot of talk out there about serious UI issues with the J3. Lot of freezing up problems. With that being said, would people recommend buying the J3 still or turning to something like the Sony A865? There's very little info about the new Sony touchscreen but it all seems to be pretty positive at this point.
Edit: Wow, just noticed I'm almost reaching a milestone here on headfi! 1000 posts! WooooHooo! Might have to celebrate with a non 3.2 beer!

I got a J3 and it came with the latest 2.26 firm, not a single hiccup! since 5 months.
Ahhhh. Good to know. Thanks! I've been kicking around the idea of getting the J3 for the better part of a year now and was thinking back and forth between it and the Sony A865. I don't use Android, so that kind of kicked the new Z series out the window. Although the player sure looks promising.

I would advise you not to get the J3 if you want the best in SQ, I would suggest hifiamn -601 or T51 or for the max go Ibasso Dx100 .
Hmmm....Might look into the 601. Seems like the Ibasso and the T51 might be a little harder to get over here.
That's a Meatloaf song isn't it? lol
Yeah their motto "Make believe" (that we are all gullible mugs)! and their mission statements do not reflect what they produce at the moment. It's like they are close but no cigar with producing the perfect dap in the Z Walkman but seem to keep wanting to shoot themselves in the right foot all the time.
Maybe apart from the size, extra price and low battery life... if the SQ is spot on maybe the near perfect alternative could be the new Ibasso DX100 with it's 24/92 sampling with 64gb on board flash plus another 32gb sd expansion, android o/s, more codecs than can shake a stick at and what looks like a good build quality also just like Sony flagship players maybe the extra $400 could be worth it for a DX100?
Personally if I could I would be very happy just to swap out the flash memory in my 32gb for a 64gb chip if it was possible and have a fresh battery installed whilst I was there.
If only Sony could make their Walkmans have an swappable upgrade system so you can keep the player longer and just step up when the latest flash memory's are available.
There, another feature I would like to see incorporated into a Walkman : (

I think If Ibasso fixed all the bugs in the next batch (they already promised us that), for sure I will be getting one, but we have to wait for a while.
