i am building a high end gaming pc from cyber power it's a mamba fang 3 i7 core with twin gtx 590 graphics cards with a razer keyboard and mouse and i want to know what will be the best 24 bit soundcard for this setup i was thinking about the asus xonar essence stx i will be using grado ps500 headphones with a turtle beach dolby surround sound  7.1 dss2 to give the grados 7.1 surround sound and i will be using a yeti 24bit mic instead of getting a 7.1 headset  and i will also be

using a audio lab m-dac for listening to my music i will also be putting everything through a pioneer susano sc-lx 90 av receiver and pioneer s81 7.1 speakers and i will be using a 75 inch samsung es8000 as my screen instead of going for the three screen route..any advice on the best soundcard to go with this setup will be welcome..thanks..p.s is there anyway i could get 7.1 surround sound with my grados and audio lab m-dac i want battlefield 3 to sound the best i can but to still be able to hear were everyone is on the battlefield?

A Xonar STX for a box with dual GTX 590 cards? Not high end enough. Look to higher end solutions from Lynx, or RME. Xonar cards are for us mid-end boxes running  a single GTX 580 smile.gif .

Onkyo SE-300PCIE.

thanks for the advice i have googled the lynx and rme and all i seem to get is sound cards for adat machines and i don't want any thing like that but the onkyo se-300pcie looks like it could be the one for me but has it got a headhone socket?

The Asus is fine; no reason to spend more money on a recording interface that adds a bunch of features you won't use while gaming. The Asus also brings a lot of features you will use (like Dolby Headphone; it'll do all the magic internally). The Onkyo is fine, but finding one in the US is going to be a stretch, and from what I've heard about the SE-200 (the older board), it can be a problem for non-Japanese versions of Windows to run that card properly. The Onkyo is an X-Fi, so if you want an X-Fi get the Titanium HD (or whatever the new TOTL is).

Not to preach on the PC thing either, but I'd probably skip CyberPower and pick something likely to have a solid PSU and decent build quality (or just build the thing yourself).

i was a bit dubious about getting the onkyo and i will be waiting for the soundcard to be released in the uk first and the cyber power pc i am still looking around on the internet to see if i can get a better pc tech radar would be my best bet on finding the right one..p.s i will get back to you when i finally make my mind up on what pc and soundcard i will get or in the real world what i can find on the net! scan seem to be winning a lot of awards i might give them a try?main gear gaming pc sounds quite good aswell with twin amd radeon hd 7950 graphics cards and epic audio engine studio quality.. sounds like this is the one the quantumn shift xeon with twin hd 7970 graphics cards.. are these chips better than having two gtx 590s or would the asus dual 5870 graphics cards be a better option?

The SE-300PCIE has a ø3.5mm headphone socket, supporting headphone impedance from 32 to 600Ω.

Indeed, there aren't many reviews out yet, and definitely not many in English language, it being a Japan-only sound card. I wish Onkyo would release them worldwide, so that one didn't have to import them. Their sound cards are highly praised for their sound quality however. They don't always have the highest specs, but most think they do sound best. Maybe that Onkyo primarily is a separate Hi-Fi (since 1946!) and A/V components manufacturer, rather than a computer components manufacturer has something to do with it.

this is the pc gaming machine i have decided on main gear quantum shift xeon 24 gb ram twin hd 7970 graphics cards epic audio engine lg blue ray burner acoustic pac ultimate sound dampering p.s this better be able to play battlefield 3 on ultra with everthing turned up fingers crossed... it will look good on a 75 inch samsung es8000 and sound good through a susano av receiver with 7.1 s81 speakers..thanks for all your input now it's time for me to get on the battlefield my squad are calling!

That's absolutely ridiculous for what you're intending to do; I've run database and AD servers with less hardware. You could probably trim 70% of that machine off and not even notice it. Just saying. No idea what "epic audio engine" even is - nothing I've ever heard of.

May be top solution from Creative? Asus is great sound card, I have one, but when a read a reviews, they say that Creative has more game sound effectes support. This was not imortant for me, so i bought an Asus, but i think this is important for you.
