Ultrasone pro 900 question/s

Hey everyone in Head-fi world! I have a few questions about the ultrasone pro 900. First off, when I buy them I will also include a Fiio e 6 amp because of the bass boosting features(I think it has). I want to know how boomy will the bass response be without the bass boost option, and how they will sound after the bass boost option. Thanks for everything.

Want to be a basshead?

I'm fairly sure the E6 will drive them good enough. They aren't too hard to drive imho. I don't have the E6 but I have the E11 right next to me. And with it's bass boost the bass be pretty powerful. Almost a little too much for some cases. But to be honest with you, personally I don't think they need bass boost. They're pretty good on that department even without boosting it, but if you want to, the bass boost will come in handy.

Some say that the ZO will be better for boosting bass, but I can't comment on that since I haven't tried it.

Ok, sounds good. The thing is that I am one of those young teenagers who was stuck into thinking beats by dr dre and bose was the best. Since it's clear that they are not the best after hearing all the nice reviews about this kind of headgear, I want something that can satisfy my basshead needs and this one seems to fit the bill besides the sony xb series.

I also have the e11. I like that I can boost the bass on some songs with the flip of a switch... Plus it has a gain switch which increases the mids.

Having the versatility to add more bass, as well as to just boost the power to the headphones is really nice. And they do blow the Beats out of the water.

LOL ease up, buddy. I have the Pro 900 as well and I am a basshead despite being 30+. No shame in having preferences. I bet you'll be very satisfied with the Pro 900 - it's a good headphone!

My E10 Bass Boost switch makes the bass too boomy and inarticulate for my tastes. Like has already been said, they have bass enough already for the most part. Until they're fully burned in I think you'd be better served to leave the gain on high and the bass boost off for the best sound.

I have the Pro 900, E11, and E7, though not the E6.  I like having a lot of different options for changing the sound.  Depending upon my source and how the original song was mixed I can do a lot of things to alter how it sounds to my preferences.  My Cowon has really powerful EQ abilities, so it doesn't really "need" the FiiO bass boost, though I often use it anyway just because it's so much fun.  My iPod, on the other hand, doesn't have very strong bass and the built-in EQ isn't that great, so it benefits much more from the FiiO's bass boost.

I had the Pro 900s and the ZO2 and would definitely recommend this pair. They really do complement each other very well - and the best part is you can ease the bass or boost it for different occasions/songs (and the ZO2 really does have a wide gap between bass boost "off" and boost at "maximum". Best $100 I've spent, that's for sure.
