EQing for flat frequency curve

What is the best way to EQ headphones in order to get the most accurate levels simulating monitor speakers for mixing music? I suppose I should use a crossfeed plugin as mentioned in another thread.

Usually when I mix in headphones the mix becomes very different when listening through speakers. Usually more bass and a dampened sound with some tracks barely audible whereas in headphones the mix sounds full and balanced. Any advice?
