HD 598s or HD 25-1 II?

I am pretty close to deciding and its down to these two. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. I just wanted others opinions before any deciding happens/1 I've heard great things about both.

I see that in your other thread (http://www.head-fi.org/t/593439/looking-for-advice-on-over-ear-headphones#post_8104850) you stated you were looking for something to use on the go.

 

By this you mean you will be using the headphones on buses, trains, etc? Are you aware the HD 598 is open-backed?

I've only read about both of them. I would be using them mostly walking and in/between classes. I wasnt aware that the 598s were open.

You'll be wanting closed-back headphones, then. This would rule the HD 598 out completely.

I have both headphones, hd598 is for home use only IMO, they need amp and a powerfull source, and they leak a lot of sound,  and dont islote, you will hear people around you, if i were you i will pick the hd25 which i like a lot, its more agressive sound but without soundstage, but isolates a lot.

If you are going to use it out of home get the hd25 without a doubt

I'd recommend starting your search again. Between HD25-1 and HD 598, it's no contest, but it seems you haven't considered other closed, portable cans yet?
