Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco

I'd like to attend a Hilary Hahn performance this coming May. Late I know, but a quick online search indicates there are a few seats left. I will try to get seats tomorrow for one of the 2:00pm concerts, which I would assume is considered a matinee?

- My main question for now is what would be the dress code to follow, for either a 2:00pm or 8:00pm concert?

- Any specific info for getting tickets?  http://www.eventticketscenter.com/ResultsTicket.aspx?evtid=1684532&event=San+Francisco+Symphony%3a+Hilary+Hahn

- Any other trivia would probably be helpful or at least interesting.

People cover the spectrum when it comes to dress, even for the evening shows. You won't look out of place with business to business casual. But I've seen people in there looking like they just came from a hike. What can I say, it's California.

You can get the tickets right off the website. I'd make them will call, unless you really want to have them in hand.

The pre-concert talks are often very good, if you're not familiar with the works.

If you want to make an evening of it, there are lots of good restaurants in the area. The food at Davies itself is meh and over-priced.

I don't think there are ny bad seats in the house, even the nose-bleed seats (where I've got season tickets). But if you are up in the stratosphere, you might want to bring binoculars.

Finally, if you can take BART there, it's much less if a headache than driving and dealing with the crowds.

I'm going to one of those Hahn performances, but don't remember which at the moment.

May 24, row F---I love it when a last minute whim comes together. Will combine the trip with a family visit in San Jose, maybe some cycling, and I haven't been to Thanh Long for ages. Mmm, crab.

Thanks again rroseperry, I was able to get my tickets directly without mark up. smily_headphones1.gif

That's great. I've seen Hahn twice at Davies and she's always amazing. I'll be there on the 25th.

Enjoy!

More than a little bit OT, but I assume you've had the garlic noodles at Thanh Long. If you haven't, you must.

I have and I will, again. At Crustaceans too, but I preferred the simpler ambience at Thanh. I think Bay Area dining (and partying) is completely on topic. ;)

I'll probably get a room for that evening.

Hmm, tempted to attend one of her performances as well.  Ticket prices are pretty reasonable through the main Davies Symphony Hall box office site.

Would it be strange for me to attend a concert solo?

No, I do it all the time. (My partner's not a big fan of classical music.) There's a mix of singles, couples and groups in attendance.

^ Agree. I don't think twice about it seeing others who were alone, so there's no reason to feel inhibited if I found myself in the same situation.
