I've been reading through countless reviews and can't seem to make up my mind on what to purchase.
My purpose for an amp/dac:
I'm triggering Superior Drummer 2.0 through my Roland TD-20 (sorry if no one is familiar with those here)
Pretty much I'm using software on my PC that I can trigger(play) from my computer from my electronic drum set through midi.
I may also be using this amp for rock and metal music but that won't be its main purpose.
The current problem I'm having is that I'm using onboard sound (realtek) and running a 1/8 stereo cable to my drum amp to increase volume through headphones. But with this setup I get horrible static/feedback from my PC, fans, connections etc.
Also if I try to increase the volume in the Superior Drummer program then I get really bad distortion, I'm guessing that is the onboard sound's fault.
So to fix this issue I'm getting a Creative E-MU 1212m sound card (not the best I know but I'm hoping it can fix the distortion I'm getting In Superior)
Since it doesn't have an onboard amp I need something that does, also even if it did I would be using optical anyways to prevent noise/feedback from my PC.
Superior Drummer is using 24 bit/96khz audio files
Headphones are Audio Technica ATH-M50
So my specs for an amp/dac
Optical In
24 bit
Price: <$500
Plenty of power
Sound quality, highs(cymbals) mids(toms,snare) lows(bass drum)
I pretty much just want something that takes whatever is coming in and makes it louder/more powerfull without sacrificing quality of course.
I heard you guys know your stuff, so I hope this isn't too demanding and thanks in advance.
