Chico

I own(ed) many headphones of your list (HD600/HD700/T90/FA011/X1/MA900...) I agree with you for all of them except HD600.

For me it is even a weakness of these fantastic headphones.

It would be nice if the list of earbuds can be updated. Dasetn & Blox recently released some very nice stuff ;-)

EDIT: about DAPs, F886/887 & ZX1 have a very good soundstage

I agree about the sennheisers. Well, I haven't heard the HD600 but I've owned the HD650, and IMO it's soundstage isn't really that impressive. But I think some peeps complained that it wasn't up there (being an open mid-fi sennheiser) so I added it.

I don't use earbuds, so I am at the mercy of other people's advice there.

Agree about those Sonys. I have the F887 and can vouch for this...

Also, the open SoundMAGIC HP200 can be added as well.

hey guys... im almost pulling the trigger on the K712 pro HP for their big soundstage and then i found this thread and i want to make sure that those HP are what im looking for..

im a grados user but i want another HP to complement the weakness of the grados.. so i can enjoy too classical, big band jazz, or even movies or FPS games.

i could squeeze alot my wallet and try to get a beyers t1 but the thing is the AMP to drive it.. i use a little dot i+ and will not have more money for some time to get the proper amp for teh T1 also dont know if its soundstage beat the k712 pro

please help me on this and recommend me or advice me if im on track

I would get the T1 and worry about a better amp sometime down the road.

The soundstage of my K702 was a little wider than the T1's...but pretty much everything else was better on the Beyerdynamic.

thanks... i will wait till the next sale on ebay, til that happens, i will keep lurking around.

Well, one thing you could do is find a used K701, K702 or a Q701...that will keep you happy until you can get the T1 and/or a better amp.  The AKGs punch above their weight, but in the end, they are not able to keep up with the T1s and the HD800s.  Also, keep in mind that the AKGs also require a good amp to get the most out of them.

Has no one here considered adding the NVX XPT100 to the list? To me it seems like it deserves consideration, here is a review:  http://www.head-fi.org/t/624729/review-nvx-xpt100-a-direct-brainwavz-hm5-competitor

Never heard of it, but I'll go ahead and add it.

Am i too late on this? I have a brief experience with T1, just a couple hours and imo they sound fantastic (I did listen to them through a $5k amp though). I think that i'd rather have an adequately driven high-end phones, rather than have fully driven average phones. I own M50SLes, and Hd650s and a couple amps, Fiio E7, Schiit Asgard, and Schiit Valhalla. There were time when my place electricity got cut out ( Transformer exploded during rainy day) and then i was forced to listen to my 650s through E7, i actually surprised that it holds up pretty well, that's why i think that it's better to invest on a proper headphones first, and then get an amp to drive it later. Just my two cents.
