Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro's 250, or 80 Ohms?

Hi! Im about to buy a pair of DT770 Pros but Im not sure about 2 things..

1. 250 ohms or 80? I tried the 80's at a store and found that they were too quiet, they didn't have the 250's but I imagine they would be even more quiet. Having said that, I also need to get an amp, but the question is which one (250 or 80 ohms) would benefit a headphone amp more?

2. What type of headphone amp should I get? I dont know if the specs have to somehow correspond to eachother based on ohms/impedance/? but I would just like something that doesn't somehow imbalance the flat response of the headphones (I have no idea what im talking about), but also doesn't cost a fortune. I would say around $50-$100, unless its absolutely CRUCIAL that I spend more.

Im making electronic music (if that helps at all). If anyone could help me, my music and I would GREATLY(!) appreciate it!! regular_smile%20.gif

What source(s) are you plugging your headphones into?

I own both headphones.

They are fairly close in sound, the 80-Ohm little more bassy, the 250-Ohm little more balanced.

The 80-Ohm will work (half-way decently) without a headphone amplifier, but really not worth using it without one.

The 250-Ohm needs to be used with a headphone amplifier.

So what type of amp would you recommend for the 250?

The dealer Im buying it from only has ART, Yorkville and Behringer amps, any ideas for the 250's?

Fiio E10, USB/DAC/Headphone amplifier

you could plug it into the USB ports on you Macbook Pro.

The E10 is small enough to be carried in a pocket.

cmoy amp is even cheaper, but would use the DAC in your Macbook Pro.

every computet has a DAC in it. if you can plug in headphones or you can hear....actual sound. thre is probably a DAC in it. it's what changes the digital PCM data in your computer's drive into actual analog frequency for use with audio devices.

i have the E17. the E10 would seem to be a lovely purchase and the reviews for it are good. i suggest you do more research on the E10. i don't have it so i can't give you a more definite answer than.it's probably what you want. i don't know about the E10 being able to drive 250 ohm headphones though(full potential). even my E17 and the E11(don't have) seem to get some slight doubts on it
