Sennheiser HD418 Mods?

Hi everyone,

I have a pair of HD418s that I am contemplating to mod. My first question is, is there a way to remove the back of the cups (the part with the flames) to make it an "open" headphone? I partly want to do this for cosmetic reasons, but I have no experience with modding headphones so I don't know what modifications will have what effect. Next, is there a way to make these headphones a little bit brighter besides EQing?

Sorry if these are really stupid questions. I'm just beginning to learn about headphone mods.

Thanks.

I have the new HD428 cans and use the EQ in my Asus Xonar audio center or my Foobar 2000 eq. My cans are still

breaking in so it's really crazy enjoyable!

there's a tape mod somewhere here i think. but it wont be needed as the 418 is already bass muddy. i have a custom earmuff myself, but i guess its not a mod. its a customization.

Yeah, I was hoping to find a mod that would push the treble more forward or to push the bass back.
