We need a Cable sticky and guide with information about plugs

Hello, it's been about 2 or 3 years since I last logged in, but I'm back and really interested in doing some recabling for my Grado sr-80i's. 

My problem is that there is no information out there regarding what cables would be best, what connectors will fit with certain cables, and which tech flex fits best. I'm very good with a soldering iron, and have made several sets of cables, but at this point I really don't know where to start. 

So Far I am looking at Monogi w2893 with a switchcraft 1/8th inch tlr. I would assume that 1/4th inch techflex would be a bit too thick, what should I look for? 

Also, Where do you guys shop here in the US for all your parts?

Is there any risk in disassembling my grados or is it all about technique?

Mogami isn't going to be much different than the stock cable. I prefer silver plated copper http://stores.ebay.com/johnssilverteflonwireshop you have to braid it yourself though.
