Need help with M-stage + Streamer II setup

I don't know if there is a tech section here as I couldn't find one, but I need some help with my setup.

There is no sound being produced by the HD800 and I don't know what is wrong. The setup is Laptop -> USB Cable -> HRT Streamer -> RCA cable -> Input 1 Matrix M-stage with Input 1 selected -> HD800.

I'm quite sure I've done everything right, Streamer II is un-muted. Is this a problem with the M-Stage or Music Streamer? The HD800 is fine if I just plug it into the laptop.

Edit:

Actually this is strange but now there is music coming out, but it's really really quiet, like a whisper. It only produces the sound when the gain is 0db. This adds more confusion, I don't know if the DAC has a problem or the AMP. I only have these 2 units currently as well so cross testing is impossible. I do know the HD800 is perfectly sound as it works normally with laptop output. I've configured everything correctly software wise....

First confirm that your M-stage is working correctly. Hook it up to another source like a TV or a radio using some cheapie headphones make sure it is amplifying. If not then the issue is the amp, have you made any changes to it?

Try input 2.

If it is amplifying correctly then the issue is with the Streamer. I don't own one so I'm not sure how they work, I think they are just plug and play. Make sure the volume for the streamer is set at 100% on the laptop.

I bought it from the classifieds here that changed the OPAMP. As rediculous as it would seem, I actually had no other way of confirming if it was the amp. My TV is a very old box type with no stereo output, other electronics at my flat didn't either and I have no cables that would allow the AMP to connect to laptop.

I believed it was the AMP, as I powered on the M-stage alone and put the HD800 in, it produced some strange sounds, like a strong gust of wind with a MASSIVE constant sibilance that I've never heard before using other AMPs, at the lowest volume on the knob. I returned it to the seller on classifieds, hopefully it is the AMP and not the DAC otherwise I've screwed myself so bad.

It's hard to tell without ruling one of the components out. See if you can borrow something from a friend or family member. Also possible something may have shaken loose from shipping the amp. Can you open it up and post up a picture?

Did you purchase it from the States? Make sure you have the correct voltage for your country. You may want to ask this in the M-Stage forum for more replies.

Silly quetsion, but I have not used the music streamer - some DAC's allow for software volume control on the laptop, and others do not. Have you checked to make sure your source (laptop) volumes are all up - music player and system?
