I'm looking to get my first pair of nice headphones . I know the has been discussed before but I haven't found anything that helped me make a decision. I mostly will listen to rock with a little classical and metal and nd with several other songs s of varying genres. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Do you mean the ATH-A700? (rather than 7000 as posted)?

I'll assume so, for the moment anyway, and say that for your type of music you'd probably enjoy the M50's more.

Especially with rock.  They're have more bass, and generally more "oomph" than the A700's.
