Are you talking about the 880 or the 990 here? Because as far as I know, the DT880 is used in some recording studios. The DT880 may be not the flattest can there is but it fits into the neutral cans category. 

 

Imo, it's a little bright but everything's quite flat. Are they as fun as the Grados? I don't think we're on the same page here. You must be talking about the DT990 which is a fun can.

Condition/usage are more important than the age of the 600s... But remember you can always get new pads and cables relatively cheaply from Senn. 

 

880s I'd try to stay pretty recent. They improved them quite a lot recently.

Sorry, wasn't paying attention for a couple days.  If you've still got the 8400s included in the running, when I referred to the low end I meant that it's tight and accurate and neutral, to my ears.  Not bloated, but not lean, either.  Perhaps very slightly warm, but it's a close call.

I think I've my current mission to look for some second hand HD600s. So of course if you have any for sale you can hit me up via PM, I'm also going to post a WTB post.
