Covering the open Backends

Ok...Now that I've Scored these Senn HD650's

 What happens if I cover the Open backs with Sound Proof material?

Would I get more Bass Response...Or would I just screw up the sound completely.

The sound great now...Could use just a Lil more deep low end BOOM BOOM bass though.

 Try putting your hands over the cups, that will be a good indication of how bad it will sound.

They'd sound glorious, dip them in honey and freeze them for 20 minutes for the best, balanced bass.

I Really don't comment on a Lotta treads people because I don't know that much.

I'm kinda New to this.

Still learning from Youse Good folks...But as far as the Honey and Ice Thang.

There have been closed-backed DIY HD600s and HD650s in the past, but to make it sound any good there's a TON of extensive modding involved. The sound would be pretty bad if you just closed them off.

You're missing out on some sweet bass.

Making a headphone do something it wasn't designed for is like making a woman do something she doesn't want to. Unsatisfying.

 

I am all for tweaking the sound of things. I always have. But radical changes on a proven classic are not a good idea. If you want sweet bass get something else.

have you tried other amps with the 650?  For me tube amps produces tighter and cleaner low end than ss amps.  Given i havent used any expensive ss amp but overall i like my 650 with tubes.
