New Meier Corda Rock - Page 4

Dear friends,

for me it's very difficult to understand why this amplifier never gained much popularity. It really is a very nice sounding headamp for a very nice price.

Fortunately the people of Innerfidelity did recognize the qualities of the ROCK and Tyll even selected the amp for his Wall of Fame.

To celebrate this occasion I decided to have a special sales during the month of Mai. Just check my website. You won't find a better amp for that price!

Cheers

Indeed. A simple and competent little amp. Lovely.

Sounds interesting. Does it have enough juice to power HE-500? What DAC can you recomment along the ROCK?

Dear MunDa,

please don't worry, the ROCK has more than enough power to drive any headphone currently on the market. It has absolutely no problems with the HE-500 (although most of my customers do combine this headphone with the JAZZ or the CLASSIC).

As for a DAC, the choices are multifold but I'm honestly not an expert in this field. You may ask around in the "dedicated source components".

Cheers

I'm really intrigued by the sale price on the Rock. Does anyone have any experience with the Rock and the Asgard, Magni, Fiio E9K, SR71A, O2, Pico Power or Vali? I'm looking to get a sense of how it compares to something I've known and used...

I owned the rock briefly with my HD800s. Sounded pretty good-and gave the Senns some real punch in the bottom end. I actually preferred it to my Dynalo I had at the time with my HD800, it was about on par with my TTVJ Fet-A I had at the time. It's been a long while since I've owned it, but iirc it reminded me of the m-Stage a little with good synergy with the Senns. Oh-and it's pretty much the coolest little amp I've laid eyes on-sexier than even the little Schiit offerings imo. Even uses an iec power cord too-much better option than a wall wart.

Has anybody compared the Meier Corda Rock to a Objective2 amp? Please share your experiences, I'm looking to get a desktop amp for my HD600's.

Don't buy an O2, it is fine until you hear the treble.. unfortunately it's very unrefined.

even meier-audio's portable players betters the O2 buy a good margin.

(this is from experience.)

Ok, and did you have the oppurtunity to compare the two. Ar maybe with a Magni/Asgard or whatever. I'd just like to get some comparison since this little amp didn't get much attention.

head-to-head - no

Magni is neutral / neutral-bright (depends on your perception) while the Rock is neutral-warm

did you read innerFidelitiy's review ?

anyone here have tried it with hd600?

I have the same question. I did read the review but that wasn't very useful.

Dear headfellows,

The ROCK has a slightly warm sound to make it more forgiving for bad recordings and mid-fi quality sources. An entry-level amp like this normally isn't paired with sources of the highest quality.

The HD600 has a rather warm sound. The combination of ROCK and HD600 will thus sound on the warm/relaxed side. Whether that is a good thing or not strongly depends on personal taste. Technically the ROCK has no problem driving this headphone at all.

Personally I probably would prefer the JAZZ / HD600 combination (don't have a HD600 at hand so can't compare right now). The JAZZ is more neutral and more detailed (and has the benefit of crossfeed), however also plays in a different price-league. The ROCK is a very fine amp for little money but better amps can be get (provided you are willing to spend more).

Cheers
