Beyerdynamic T1 and amp pairing help (on a budget T_T)

oookay. so i recently came across some incredibly cheap HD800 for £750, new and unopened in a store. knowing that the T1 is about the same price (i can find it for £730)

i had a clear choice between the two.

in the end i figured to go with the T1 purely because it is more suited to my music tastes

sadly this presents another problem. As i have spent a bomb on the T1's. there is no point having them without a very good, or at minimum, good, amplifier.

my budget (every remaining penny to my name) for an amp is about £350-400

I'm not sure if a Tube or SS amp would be better, so any suggestions would be lovely.

Thanks in advance for all your help,

                                                     Alex.

Relax on the bumps. People will come along, you have to be willing to wait more than half an hour for a response.

Not owning them but having read plenty, tubes are generally reccomended. Look into Woo Audio's offerings. Many a T1 owner touts the synergy between Woos and the T1.

Only ones i can seem to afford based on budget are WA3 and WA6.

But i hear WA3 is better for high impedance 'phones like the T1.

thank you for your input

any more info would be awesome :)

Thanks again

I own the schiit valhalla. Works the T1 well. If you can spend 1100 dollars, get a Woo Audio WA2, as the synergy between the T1 and WA2 are apparently amazing.

That's my next upgrade.

I can’t compare this, since I’ve never heard Beyerdynamic T1 powered by a Schiit Asgard. However, from my personal experience I can assure you that the Schiit Valhalla works very fine when driving a pair of Beyerdynamic T1 headphones.

Beyerdynamic T1, Schiit Valhalla amp and Schiit Bifrost DAC.

Werner.

If you don't want to mess around with tubes try the Heed Canamp, I thought it was a good pairing with the T1, otherwise Woo would be the way to go.

wow this is one to consider :)

problem is i already have an SS amp which i dont feel goes well with the T1, i have an asgard.

ive been told the vahalla runs well with the T1 which is why i havent crossed it off yet.

will the heed can amp sound similar to the asgard?

Have you considered putting your current budget away and saving for a bit longer to get a nicer amp?

You're just shy of some really good ones.

I haven't heard the asgard, but I can say in comparison to some other amps that the canamp was very enjoyable to listen to when I heard it, it made the T1 sound very musical, where as my current amp the classic sounds more detailed. At it's price its hard to beat, but in comparison to something like the WA6 its no contest, Woo is leagues ahead.
