Xeport 5010-8 or JVC HA-FX1X? (or another)

Hi Head-Fi,

 

I've been checking out posts and reviews for some budget bass heavy in-ears and settled on either Xeport 5010-8 or JVC HA-FX1X. Currently leaning towards the Xeport for better overall sound although i'm not exactly sure how they directly compare with each other. I'm also open to other suggestions - the two above are more or less the same price but I don't really want to spend more than this.

 

I've also found that for me with other in ears (they just broke) that this type of tip gives the best fit: http://www.octone.eu/uploads/tx_octoneshop/sporty_iem3.jpg - it's the tips with 3 layers or so. Is it likely that I can use these with whatever I buy, I mean are most sizes standard to fit? No big deal if they're not but the other style tips don't seem to stay in so well or as deep.

If you need a versatile IEM then better get the Xeport 5010 (got the best review out of the 3 Xeport offerings in Headfi). JVC alternative seems to be a bass monster.

 

Seal of a tip depends upon the IEM housing too. If they are big compared to the one with which they fit perfectly then in this case it might not be the same. Nozzle size is another factor.

Cheers, I was considering between the two because i've heard/read that they're both pretty much bass monsters.

 

Any one had any direct experience of the two for comparison? Is the JVC much bassier then, but the mids and trebs suffer because of this?

 

Leaning towards the 5010 in all honesty, I just hope it doesnt take too long to ship to UK from the US.
