Recommendation for an IEM upgrade? ($150 to $250 range?)

I hope that someone would be willing to guide a complete novice: I would like to upgrade from the Sennheiser CX300II’s I current have to something that has even better bass & more of a dynamic response.  I’ve been pleased with the Sennheisers but would like to upgrade to something that sounds even better.  My only yardstick for comparison, other than listening to live music of course, is a pair of over-ear Grado SR-60’s (yes, I know – I’m not exactly the high end audiophile here).  However, the Grados DO sound so much better than the Sennheisers.  Is this something that’s achievable with an IEM?

I was looking at the Sennheiser IE6 or perhaps even the IE8 (although that would be stretching the budget).  Is there perhaps something in between those two price ranges that is better than the IE6’s but approaches the sound quality of an IE8?

(Again, thanks much for any feedback and sorry if this is too remedial for the forum – I did read through the Wiki on the headphone buying guide on the Mid-Range headphones but thought I’d post a forum question to see if anyone had an opinion beyond what’s there.  Thanks!)

Skip the IE8 and go for the IE80. It is much more balanced than the IE8 stock and is more upfront. Well worth the money. Are you in the USA? I'll send you a PM with Razordog information (an Authorized Sennheiser Dealer). You can haggle with him and strike a deal to bring the price down considerably. FX700 are also an amazing IEM. They are well worth it if you can get them second hand. There are some headfiers selling them right now. I got mine for around $270.00 used and its well worth the price IMO.
