I'm looking for the best supra aurals that $110 can buy, but the shouldnt bleed out as much as grados so that i can listen to fairly loud music without too much of it getting out.
Thanks

What kind of music do you listen to and is bass your only concern?

I listen to everything save for blues and country, although I dont stray too far into techno and electronica.
Bass, is my main concern, but overall sound quality should be decent.

AKG K81. Driven out of the right source its like an upgraded Grado SR-80i. A little slower, a lot bassier, but just as energetic and pleasing to the ear. I listen to mostly metal, but I drift into the blues on occasion. Not sure if you're familiar with this band, but http://thewhitesoots.bandcamp.com/ nearly brought a tear to my eye with these. I also listened to some 'Stone Axe' on my newbish vinyl rig and it was pretty great.

Would you still recommend the akg's if theyd be driven out by portable players?

The AKGs are very easily driven and doesn't benefit much by amping but it has 2 very weak points being 1. Uncomfortable 2. Soundstage is very closed, in your head. Putting those aspects aside it has great bass although for me personally lacking somewhat in bass extension and mids are pretty good too. The highs are a bit veiled but you can easily remove the foam inside the cups covering the drivers and it won't sound recessed anymore if you wish to get more highs. Comfort wise out of box I could only wear them for like 15-20 mins until I got very sore ears but 2 overnight stretch session helped significantly as it's the tight clamping which is the biggest issue. Now it made it wearable at least to like 1½ ~ 2 hrs or so.

I prefer it from my Sansa Fuze compared to my Burson. It sounds more dynamic and plays louder through the Burson but I don't find that there is much improvment beyond that. The Fuze has much better synergy with them.

I decided to get senn cx870's because of portability, but thanks anyway.
