How do you tag a Quincy Jones album?

I'm in the process of ripping a few Quincy Jones albums that I found and I'm wondering how to properly tag them.

Quincy Jones is a producer, so he wouldn't be in the 'artist' (or 'CD artist') field tag, would he?

Each song in an album has various names listed under it. For example: "I'll be Good to You" (George Johnson/Louis Johnson/Sondra Sam), Musicians [insert many names here]. Should I list the names in the parenthesis for the 'artist' field tag?

Or should I simply put Various Artists under the 'artist' (or 'CD artist') field tag?

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Have you looked up the albums in question on Musicbrainz.org? Players like iTunes and Winamp use the Gracenote database. I usually let TuneUp take care of the grunt work. It also runs off Gracenote.

I just checked on a couple of his albums on Musicbrainz.org. They're either labeled as Quincy Jones or Various Artists for the 'artist' field. EAC uses the FreeDB database, and both "Quincy Jones" and "Various Artists" are used as well.

Maybe I'll just label the 'artist' as Quincy Jones.

Am I the only one who worries about properly tagging albums? I've spent hours re-ripping old CD's because 1. for FLAC format, 2. for better field tagging. I also spend a bunch of time adding high-resolution album art to my files so that they show up nicely in media players. My brother hardly spends any time with the album art, so his iPod has a bunch of [♫] pictures as the default for not having a cover art in CoverFlow view. Mine is nice and colorful since I spend the time to add all of the album art, hahahaha.

I've spent days retagging my entire library with Musicbrainz Picard. Then after iTunes Match released, rescanning and retagging everything with TuneUp.
