FiiO E9 + lower-end cans

Okay, this is gonna sound weird, but it's just something that crossed my mind...

Okay okay so... Today I ordered my first headphone amp ever, the FiiO E9, for my first high-end cands ever, the Senn HD600's. So yay, I'm a big boy now I guess.

So, I have 3 other regular-sized cans (not including the sweet new IEM's I invested in recently) sitting under my desk: Senn HD 202's, Panasonic RP-HTX7's, and a pair of plain ol' Sony MDR-V150's. What I'm wondering is: how well would a nice(r) amp like the E9 drive a cheap pair of cans?

A REALLY silly question, I know, but I'm a n00b at this audiophilia stuff and I was just whimsically wondering if anybody else had ever tried such! o2smile.gif

Well if you are using low impedance cans/IEMs they won't play nicely with the E9 as its impedance is high. I hope that is not the case for you as it will make things unbalanced.

LOL, it doesn't really matter, it's not like I'm gonna be using the E9 for anything really other than the HD 600's.... still it might be funny just to hear what happens....

Well I hope you enjoy them. Maybe later you can look into the Objective2 amp. They have a DIY kit for $100.00 and a pre-assembled unit for $150.00 (which I opted for). I'm actually selling my E9 amp and the O2 took its place :).
