Open/Semi that sound like UE TripleFi 10s?

Hi,

I asked a question in the advice thread but got little response so forgive me for posting it here. Anyway I think I have a very specific question, not one of those "best headphones under $100??" so I hope it's not too irritating.

TL;DR, I need:

- Open / semi-open cans OR smaller in-ear (not preferred)

- Sound very close to the UE triplefi 10s

- Comfortable for big head

- Works well with Apogee One (no external amp)

I love the smooooth highs & deep bass of the UE. Intimate soundstage works well for rock & pop. I like complex, detailed mids too (I'm a guitar player). Problem is they are too big for my ears. I cannot wear them for more than 30 minutes, and they keep falling off during those 30 minutes too.

Here are other headphones I own:

- Grado SR80: decent, but harsh, uncomfortable, a bit weak

- AD700: most comfortable but bass is weak and cold, too much harsh treble

- HD280: too much bass, clamp too tight, literally gives me headache

- CX300: overwhelming bass, crappy treble, snares sound like tincan, pretty comfortable.

Someone recommended me the D2000 but I read that the bass is lacking too?

Thanks for reading!

The AD900 does sounds rather like the TF10 with far better midrange, very dynamic and fun sound. Closed back the DT150 totally worth considering, warm yet detailed, however it is 250Ohms and won't be loud on most PMP making it only suitable on your Apogee One.

D2000 certainly have boomy bass, and the mids are not really that detailed. Very fun, but too much bass for me.

If the AD900 sounds anything like AD700 then I'm afraid it's not for me. I will look into it though.

I don't use any PMP, this only for listening at the office so I should be fine with more demanding cans. Some reviews here are saying the D2000 is rather weak in the bass department? If it's anything like the UE then it's perfect for me.

AD900 sounds nothing like the AD700, closest is the highs, where both extends very well, just that the AD700 doesn't have the bass to compliment it. I would take a DT150 over a D2000 any day, if looks is really important, the DT770/250 is comparable but it was less detailed to my ears.

I'm not a fan of AD700 highs either, too harsh imo. I'm trying to not buy closed back because I dont want to be too isolated when I'm working in my cubicle.

I have the TF10 as well, i bought the AD900 and returned it in a few days.... the only commonality i would say between the two is that they are both really quick... The AD900 was grainy sounding on the treble to me, while the bass was too light...
