If their prices were equal,

Hi guys,

I listen to rock, post rock or any form of energetic music most of the time. At least, the music I listen will contain distorsion and a bass guitar. In the same time, I don't like the bands without any clever additions to the classic line ups. So, this means that I love listening to bands that have a multi layered sound. Example: Enter Shikari, Hadouken, Pendulum, The Mars Volta, God is an Astronaut, Haggard etc.

I don't have much experience with IEMs. I have used an ep 640, senn cx 300 II and brainwavz m2. I just love my M2 and it's balanced output but it is the time for a big leap!

Speaking of a big leap, I had three IEMs in mind.

a. jvc ha-fxt90

b. Meelectronic a151

c. Etymotic hf5

If their prices were equal, which one would you recommend and why?

Thanks.

Going by your music taste I'd say analytical IEMs with aggressive and intimate presentation is what you should be looking for. I don't have any of the above (A151 lost in shipping, FXT90 will be delivered on Monday, don't own HF5).

I have yet to hear those JVCs, so I can't comment on those.  I have heard the A151s and HFs.  Although the HF is technically better, for your genres and preference that requires the bass guitar to shine, I'd go with the A151s.  The deeper, more quantiful (I like making up words :p) bass helps out a lot, you may also find the HFs a little anemic every now and then since bass guitars tend to get lost in the music (along with bass drums).
