I was planning on getting a Fiio e17 and I heard that I can only use the DAC that is onboard of my iPhone 4S because the e17 does not allow you to bypass the DAC on the iPhone 4S. I could wait a few weeks and buy a Fostex hp-p1 and go that route. Just wondering what others would do. Should I buy the Fiio e17 and enjoy my music that way or wait for the Fostex and listen to music that way?

First, I should note that I auditioned these both straight out of the box, without any break-in time and then later after 53 hours of break-in. Recent scientific studies have shown definite...

A very all-round headphone for me. Just the right one to take on the go or on holiday. Also as a DJ, nice noice isolation. Very durable so you don't have to wonder if it will break if you throw...

This quick review is done after a few hours of listening. I bought them from B&H for the decent sum of 150$. If you've done your research you'll find out that Ultrasone HPs are known for their...

The Fiio E17 if connected through lineout dock will improve the soundquality over HP jack of iPhone 4s and HP_P1 will take it to the next level. Because it's feed digital signals and then use external DAC/AMPs for greater soundquality. I will recommend to go with HP_P1 but if need immidiate upgrade then E17 is an improvement over stock HP jack.

Zarim is exactly correct. if you are already buying HP1...why spend abother $150? The DAC on the iPhones and Apple devices are no slow pokes boasting the best sound mass availble on smartphones, and a very good one for your traditional ipod (theres audiophile comp in this sector..so i can't say best anymore) and the Mac's have arguable the best standard not hyped DAC and amp...that comes standard on each and every comp
