Will the Etymotic MC5's be a good choice for me?

Howdy folks. Please bear with me (as this is my first post in a community such as this, so please don't hesitate to correct me if I'm doing or saying something imbecile). biggrin.gif

I have a pair of Sennheiser HD-280 Pro's that I've loved for the past year or two but they're a bit too bulky for class or public transport. I really enjoy how they sound and I noticed in a comment on a review of the Etymotic MC5 that the MC5's are very similar to the HD280's. I listen to a huge variety of music, from Zeppelin to Bach to Trance and anywhere in between. Would the MC5's be a good choice for a budget concentrated college student?

For a bit more you get close to world class sound from the HF5/HF3 which share the same driver design as the esteemed ER4.
