But then again when you are not using your player it's not that hard to just shut it down yourself... My Studio V does have this feature though so if I was to forget or fall asleep with it on it will shutdown after 2 minute of being idle.

I have personally experienced the exasperation, on numerous occasions, of my J3 running itself dead-as-a-housebrick during work, and finding I cannot listen to it on the commute home. That's bad enough on a $300 DAP, but I'm not going to put up with this on an $800 DAP.

(JFYI, the J3 'auto-sleep' function was never properly implemented by the Cowon engineers - the player has a 40+hr battery life, but can kill it's own battery within just a few hours by going into some kind of infinite-loop or whatever, when it erratically fails to put itself automatically into sleep mode. Really, REALLY irritating after a hard days work and the prospect of a noisy, crowded train ride home! My DX100 is supposed to be an upgrade to my J3, so I can leave the J3 in my past. I don't want history repeating itself with the DX100, but it's looking worryingly likely if the above feature isn't implemented by iBasso's engineers. With such appalling battery life, iBasso really do have an obligation to ensure they at least implement robust power management features, and Android should offer quite a bit of flexibility in this regard)

Can't disagree with you there. I'm sure if you drop them a line they will accommodate for this. There's really no reason not to. I'm gonna request that they give an option to not have the stock music player start up with the player but instead let us select it from the programs to have it start up. Its just a waste of resources and irritating. Kinda like spam IMO.

Yeah, although that might perhaps be 24/192 kernel-related?

Still, I wish google marketplace would stop automatically loading itself at start-up.

,,,or from the same concert...

I have the blu ray disc "live at Ronnie Scott's" and it has to be one of the best recorded live concerts: small venue, perfect acoustics, etc. I've seen this exact line up 3 times before Jeff changed things around. So far they're my favorite and I've been a fan for too many years to count. Hey there's hope for you yet. wink.gif

Let's keep this thread on track so it's easier for the developer to address the issues we'd like looked at. The other thread has lots of off topic conversation.

I know... I'm a pot and you are all black kettles. wink.gif

Well, guess what?

A mere 21.5hrs after I posted the above, I'm typing this whilst sat on the train home from work, and... Yes, I just pulled out my DX100 to listen to it on my way home... and surprise, surprise, it's totally, 100% dead. To say I'm cheesed-off is an understatement!! mad.gif

Well I did test how long my battery life is lasting. Before I went to bed I unplugged it from full charge and let it loop constantly. It played music for exactly 7 hours and 5 minutes. So that is about what ibasso said it would play at. So I can't complain then. I've cycled the battery about 4 times already. 3 times I've cycled it to complete drain. I think another 4 more cycles should condition it and it may last a bit longer as some have posted earlier.

I am getting around 8.5 hours with mixed regular rez and hi rez.

There is a significant improvement in battery run time that can be gained by shutting off various android functions such as location, sync, wi-fi, etc.

I've done all that (I'm typing this message on my Galaxy S2 so I am familiar with Android).

I'm really torn at the moment with whether or not to send my DX100 back to iBasso for a refund. If I was using it as a bedside rig, it wouldn't matter, but the whole point, for me, is that the DX100 is supposed to be portable. A portable which I can't rely upon to work (battery running flat after just a few hours on standby) does not perform its required function. Simple as that. It's only the SQ that's making me hesitate, but I know that SQ is irrelevant if it's too flat to power-up..

Would you be able to just turn it off instead of leaving it in Standby? I understand you should be able to do this though without too much battery drain. I just turn it off to not have to deal with the potential issues (which you are seeming to have). If anything maybe ibasso can address this issue.
