Looking for the ideal movie iem for $100

I'm looking for some IEM's for movies. I will be using them for music too, but I'm much more interested in movie immersion. I'd like them to have a rather wide sound with nice mids, as I'm used to the ath-m50 closed cans, which seem to boast the opposite. According to the buying guide posted here (I'm new obviously heh) I should be looking at the Head-Direct RE-ZERO or the Spider Realvoice? While stumbling amazon I noticed these which seem decent http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Ultimate-Ears-Noise-Isolating-Earphones/dp/B003YKG2YQ/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1327637819&sr=1-1  Any better recommendations would be /greatly/ appreciated. I'm always so nervous with earphone/headphone purchases.

Side Note: They'd be used with a fiio e10. Other IEM's I've owned ne-6 (nice, but too low? I like mids and treble I guess), Brainwavz Beta (Similar reaction).

Another Side Note: Sorry for the awful formatting.

Thanks Again.

I've not tried a range of IEM/headphones for movies, but I've used the Soundmagic PL30/50 for the last couple of years.  They do a good job for most movies.  The mids are good for dialogue and they can handle the lows well enough.  They rarely distort.  I use them with Shure modified tips and an iBasso D10 amp coming straight out of the blu-ray player on a digital out.

From what I've read. Yamaha EPH-100 is perfect.

A lack of samples always seems to be the problem. I have read really great things about the PL30/50 regarding it's sound in it's price range. However, I'm looking to spend a bit more.

A quick google search landed me some conflicting reviews. Some say great soundstage then I think a couple said the opposite. http://www.head-fi.org/t/577712/yamaha-eph-100   Also, who is selling these for around $100.

I'll look further into the EPH-100 in the meantime, but does anyone else have any thoughts on these or others?

Edit: Yup the EPH-100 seem like they'd make a great movie iem. Though, I was unable to find them under $150 which is more than I want to spend. At the very least I now have something to work off of.

If you live in the US, you can probably get the Yamaha EPH-100 for $115 shipped if you call JR Electronics and mention that a few people on this forum bought them for that price.  Keep in mind that I'm not advocating this for movies because mine are in the mail.

I do in fact live in the US. Thanks for the tip. When you do get them, could I bother you to post your first impressions?

It may be a little while before I can give you feedback on the Yamaha EPH-100.  My package isn't due for delivery until next week.

Keep in mind I'm basing my comments on an old Intel P4 pc with 2.1 sound.

For Movies

Spider RealVoice - has the mids but probably not a good choice for movies because they aren't immersive and very narrow.  For music, I found the bass overwhelming using a Sansa Fuze and my pc as the source, but they seem to sound okay using Pandora on my Samsung Droid Charge phone.

Head-Direct RE-ZERO (w/ real Sony hybrid tips) - Of the dozen or so IEM's I've listened to, these are still my favorite for music.  For movies, the width is good and voices sound fine but the below average bass renders them not very immersive.  They excel at music but I'd rate them as an above average choice for movies.  Although I've had mine over a year and have not had any problems, a noticeable number of members have complained on this forum about build quality issues of late

Thermaltake ISURUS - Something to seriously consider for watching movies and probably great for gaming.  It was made for gaming and runs around $30.  For movies, very immersive and very wide but  the mids for dialog are recessed.  Some members have posted that they really like them for music too.  However, after approximately 15 hours of burn-in, to me they don't sound natural and the bass can be overwhelming at times, so its rather hit and miss for music.  Definitely recommend over the other two for movies and I don't think you can go wrong given the current prices.  In the future, I think prices may go higher since Thermaltake discontinued making them recently.

Logitech Ultimate Ears 700 - A friend of mine owns these, so I've heard them but haven't done a quick test for movies.  I imagine my comments would probably be similar to the RE-ZERO but narrower, not as immersive, short on bass and not quite as good at music.  Noticed complaints about build quality and the cable on this forum too.  Seem to go on sale at Amazon for under $100 fairly regularly.

Oh wow, thank you for the informative response. Due to their cheap price I'll grab a pair of the Thermaltakes, and then order the RE-ZERO's. I'm pretty excited to hear both to be honest.

Thanks again for all your help.
