need help to amplify ipod with krk rokits

hi,

 

I have my iphone / ipad hooked up to my rokits via mini trs to Y trs. that works alright but the volume is not very loud. I also heard that I dont want to use the headphone out.

 

so I am looking for a solution to amplify the signal going from the iphone into the rokits. but as the rokits are active I heard that I have to be careful what kind of signal I feed them.

 

Also I would like to use a dock and the 30 pin out as well as a remote.

 

Im new to studio monitors, so I dont really know what I need to look for.

 

I saw the cambridge audio magicDAC plus with the ID100 dock, but at $800 thats a little steep for me. any solutions that are cheaper ? eg $300-400

any recommendations are appreciated.

Have you tried adjusting the volume on the monitors themselves? Also what do you have?

yes, of course they are maxed out... I got rokit 6s.

Hmm, silly question, but do you have the volume on you iPod maxed?

yes, all ipod is maxed too... its not that its super silent. its just not loud enough, with both ipod and speakers on max volume.

Interesting, I have the eights, but the 6's should be plenty loud.

I have bx8as on a PC as well and they exceed 100 Db at half the speaker dial volume, so I guess the ipod doesnt have enough juice..

Well you have to take into account that you are driving earphones which most likely are putting out maybe a volt, when your PC is butting 5 volts, so yes the ipod is not able to put out a ton of signal.

You will need to use some type of iPod dock that used that dock connector.
