How to keep headphones durable?

Thread Starter

I have never lasted an earphone longer than 6months, and was really sad when my klipsch s4 broke. The problem I usually have is either one side doesn't work, or the bass of the sound completely goes away, like the type of sound that comes out when you have the headphones half plugged in. I end up twisting the headjack, and it starts to work again, but after a month or so after, even this doesn't work, so what are tips to last headphones longer? I'm sure there are other threads that has this question, but I had no idea what to search. link me if possible ^^

EDIT: also, suggestions for a new IEM around price range of 20-70 USD?

The S4's are known to have a pretty weak cable, that might be part of the reason why they don't last. To have headphones last as long as possible I wrap them around 4 fingers and store them in a case when not in use.

As for recommendations, I think both the Dunu tridents and meelectronics a151's are known for their build quality.
