Set up is plugged in correctly but music still playing through laptop speakers? help?!?!

Okay guys so I finally got all my parts in and cords and all and now I am too retarded to get it to work properly!! Lol please help me if you can...here is what I have going on.

 

Macbook Pro connecting by an asynchronous usb cable to my MF V Dac 2 which is connecting by a white and red rca cable to my Matrix M stage amp which my hd650's are plugged in to...

 

the inputs seem to be right, my computer is picking up the dac, yet when i try to play a song it goes through my laptop speakers rather than my headphones

 

PLEASE HELP I WANT TO EXPERIENCE AUDIO NIRVANA!!

Couple of things to check:

 

1) make sure the USB output is selected in System Preferences -> Sound - {Output} tab.

2) When making changes to sound source, always close and reopen iTunes (assuming that is what you are using).  If you don't close/reopen iTunes it will not work correctly.

3) in audio/midi setup you might need to make some tweaks in there for sample rate, etc.

 

Long shot - I haven't looked it up, but did you make sure your DAC will run on a Mac?  Most do...

 

Good luck.  I'm sure you'll find for problem somewhere.
