Recommendations for a Electronic Listener

Yes yes, I should use the search button, but I'd like a thread tailored just for me.

So this is what I listen to:

  • Dubstep
  • Dance
  • Trance
  • Hip Hop
  • Drum and Bass
  • Pop

This is what I'd like the headphones to have:

  • Nice design
  • Under $150
  • In-ear monitors
  • volume control is a plus(not needed)

What I found are these headphones: Bose MIE2 and Sony MDREX510LP.

Are there any models you guys would recommend?

I'd go with the Ultimate Ears Triple Fi 10 if you can find it under $150(you should be able to).

O.o that's any interesting design it has. I found it for $155 on Amazon, I don't think I'll fit with those.

Well, they really are sublime with any kind of electronic music. They're the 'phones I'd reach for first with those genres.

Just answered this in another thread with same requirements & higher budget.
I already have TF10's & hated them. Too strong highs, recessed MIDS, hardly any separation & mediocre sound stage. Save your money & get EPH-100. I believe you can get them for $115 in US. Have a look at the Yamaha eph-100 thread for more info.

Yamaha EPH100's may seem cheap from their price tag but they have enough class to punch into top tier especially for EDM. I also had similar requirements & initially snobbed them because of there low price.

They are metal construction and best fitting/isolating of all dynamic drivers. Great for gym & commuting. Bass is strong & punchy, great clarity without earaching highs & to top it all 3D like immersive soundstage that is parictularly incredible with EDM. I've also got TF10's & IE7's and they are no match for EDM/Hip-hop/Rap.

You won't regret it even though you may buy another if you hang around these forums. rolleyes.gif

I might buy the UE Triple.Fi 10. Do you have a good experience with them?

Also I saw the headphones were released in 2006, after 6 years is it still top dog?

I own a pair of TF10s & intend to sell them. Only had few hours use.
For the music you like I have full confidence in recommending eph100 over TF10.
If you had said classical/jazz than I would not have replied on here because neither are outstanding at those.

Yep Yamaha EPH-100 is the new kid on the block. Don't be decieved by it's price.

It truly is brilliant for the genre you are after. TF10 has no 3D like immersion like EPH100. It's like listening to very clear sound through straws in each ear. Just my opinion.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Well I've narrowed down my choices to

Ultimate Ears triple.fi 10
Sony MDREX600
Shure SE215
ThinkSound TS02

Which one is the best one for electronic music?

I've only heard the TF10s and the EX600 out of those. I prefer the TF10s for electronic stuff, but the EX600 is no slouch in that department, and it's a better value for the price. Also has more depth to its soundstage. Bass isn't as punchy though.

+1

Absolutely, there is no doubt in that, it is the first one I reach with EDM too.

The other options are Hippo VB or Fischer Silver Bullet, I own all 3 and they are my EDM IEM's, TF10 first choice, followed by Hippo and Silver Bullet

Fit could be an issue with TF10. Audition these first before finally making a purchase.

I've never seen any store that sells those, have you? I live in California.

Hmm Would there be any good headphones with 2 or more drivers in each ear piece under $170?
