Replacing AKG k271 MKII

Hey all. So to start off I'm just going to say that im a noob at this stuff.

So I bought my first real pair of head phones a little while ago (akg k271 mkII) and while they're definitely a step up from crummy ipod ear buds, they feel a little...flat to me, like too clinical. Basically, I don't mind treble in headphones cause the akg has next to none, the mids in the akg's are solid to me, the bass is punchy, but I definitely wouldn't mind more (actually, more would be awesome). I usually listen to metal>trance>rock. I don't know if they'd sound better with an amp or not (Fiio E11 if it makes a difference), but I just purchased one and I'm waiting for it to come in, but even so it shouldn't make a world of difference right?

So essentially my question is, what headphones should I get based on these preferences? and I'm lookin at headphones >$300, and open, closed, doesn't matter. They don't really have to be an accurate representation of sound, I just sort of want something fun XD, but not so wonky that everything else sounds like crap. So here are the types of headphones I am considering so far:

Grado's SR80i/SR225i-I'm not too sure on what the difference between these are

Beyer DT880/DT990- so far the general consensus I've heard about these are that the 880 is better all round while the 990s have a bigger soundstage, overwhelming treble(?), more bass. If theres anything else please let me know

ATH M50- heard good things about the bass and haven't heard much about anything else

ATH A700/AD700/A900/AD900- all I know about these are that A's are open D's are closed

I'll of course wait for my amp to come and see if AKG's still satisfy, but let me know what your thoughts are. Thanks.

Grado SR60, cheaper and you'd hard pressed to tell the difference from the SR80 (which would also do bass better but will be less detailed than the AKG K271 MKII). For me the SR225 is slightly bass weak as well and too treble happy. If you like alot of bass ATH M50 is an option as well but for me it was kinda just a lump of bass + medicore mids and highs.
