I have just checked with your dark knight song. DT990 has got stronger sub bass "DEFINITELY". At least mine

DT-880-600 / 702 .

 

DT-880-600 more proeminent treble , wich give an impression of superior clarity /transparency  , but like K702 never sounded harsh on my setup , and it's not there that K702 is a bit warmer IMO . A slight roll off for K702 on extrem highs but , peraphs it's the typical bump on beyers that make me think that .

 

Mediums , DT-880-600 mids are fuller than DT-990 but , a bit recessed in comparison to K702  which is more bodied here and for me it's on the mids that K702 have a slight touch of warmness , i really feel that on vocals etc . 

 

Bass , similars , both have dry , detailled bass , and about the same in inpact , but in quantity DT-880 have more , some instruments feel more bodied and grounded than K702 wich have an airier prensentation (DT-880 is airier too but a bit less) .

 

Soudstage , DT-880 in width. is not far away from K702 , K702 is very left / right oriented , deepth is ok , but DT-880 a bit more , and more envolving the head . Instrument separation is clearer on K702 , imaging i liked both .

 

Technicaly / Details , it's about the same peraphs an slight edge with DT-880 .

 

 

 

Was a very hard choice for me .

 

But now with T1 , DT-880- K702 are useless can't go back .

 

You take DT-880 treble , a bit less proeminent , more smooth but even better in details / clarity . 

 

Mids a touch of warm like K702 but even more bodied and fuller , really nice one . 

 

Bass everything improved , and a bit more impact .

 

Soudstage , peraphs realy close to K702 in width and better in the others ways ...

 

A more detailled cans , even more transprency / clarity , a really good balance , and a superb soundstage , peraphs a bit less neutral than DT-880 , but the best can i ever had at this time .

 

Would like to elaborate this more , but my english is not sufficient enough biggrin.gif

Or perhaps my Q701s are over-performing.  I swear on that dark knight song thet sound pretty similar.  What the heck?!

 

Would you say yours don't resemble the headroom graph?

Just wanted to say "Nice Review"!

I'm glad I got a pair of DT880 instead of the DT990s, I wanted something somewhat different than the Q701 sound, i.e. a little less treble.

I need shorter cables, can someone tell me if these cables will work for the Q701? Thank you!

Hi, when you say Gaming (with Dolby Headphone), what does it mean?

Is Dolby Headphone a software on the PC or..... sorry for the newbie question.

I mean, I can hook up my ps3 to my dac and headphone out, but I don't think that makes it to Dolby surround.

I know turtle beach has some gaming DSS thing... not sure if they are the same as what you are talking about.

It is a virtual surround sound DSP specifically designed for use with headphones.  Devices have to license the tech from Dolby and will say "Dolby Headphone" or have the logo on the device somewhere.  Some PC soundcards have it.  For console gaming, the Turtle Beach DSS 1 (although not the DSS 2 from what I've heard), the Astro Mixamp, and Tritton AX720 are three such devices.
