I Listen to rock pink floyd the who led zepplin the police. So far i feel like these are the best headphones for me but heard they need a good amp. My price range is under 100. I need a good portable amp for my style of music. I am open to other headphone suggestions however dont just post your favorite headphone.

Popular amps under $100 that are portable are listed below. i don't have them, so i can't tell you anything. you would really need to look up stuff on head fi and make ur descision.

FiiO E11 -extremely popular

PA2V2

ZO2 - i doubt this will do well with AKG's

JDlabs Cmoy

iBasso D-Zero- $110

no. you don't need a DAC for anything. what will u be using this with? ipod? the DAC's in the D-Zero and other DAC and amps. aren't used with the device. they are meant to be dual purpose. the amp section for porable use and the addtion of DAC for computer use. the pa2v and cmoy and ZO2 don't have DAC's. you look like u are just starting out. would it be ok if you told me ur source, and what u currently have. i think u need an LOD (ipod and walkmans only) i don't know how the E11 will work with AKG but since u decided on it or just is on top of ur mind. i guess u r liking what u r reading :D

I never have been much of a headphone guy so im new to this stuff. (stereos man) I've heard the denon ahd20000 and akg q701s are pretty good for  my style so i am liking what iv read. Ive got an iphone and a computer which will be me sources but portablity is a big thing. Do u think those two headphones are a good chose or am i missing out on any headphones for rock

Im not oo well versed on how those do with rock. But i know grado is a rock oritended company. Problem is they r full open. Fiios r very universal amp. It will have no problem ( the e11) driving the teo headphones or grados too but how it synergizes with them i dont know. There is a user that just posted on clieos e17 thread that has the akg and is getting the e17 u can pm him for impressions when he receives it as the e17 is a great alll in one i bought as well. But lookk at e11 reviews with specific headphones mentioned

Do you need a portable or transportable amp for your Q701s?

I imagine they won't be as awesome outside.

You might wanna take a look at the Objective2 amp.
